Plug and play - no interoperability issues
This Finisar transceiver was recommended on serve-the-home as working with my intel SFP port and it does.

Plug and play, win10 reports as mellanox connectx2
Plugged into my HP z workstation, connected with direct attach copper. Drivers automatically installed by both Ubuntu bionic and Windows 10 without drama. 9.8Gbps reported by iperf3. Getting that out of the ssds is another story. Probably worth adding jumbo frames.
