It doesn't work if you point it "anywhere".
You have to point it at the cable box and it's pickier that I expected it to be.
I mounted my TV on the wall with the cable box behind it.
It is often non-responsive, like it goes to sleep or something.
Still better than the IR remote in my configuration.
