Shimano raises the bar with the Metanium MGL 2020.
Everyone has preferences and this reel is almost perfect for me. It's very smooth and casts with ease. The build quality is top notch. It has a solid rugged feel to it but it's buttery smooth. You won't regret getting this reel as it's probably the best all around reel Shimano has made to date.

Upper tier reel with mid tier pricing.
For the money maybe the best reel you can buy. It has the MGS spool & micromodule gear and it's 6.5oz. It's also extremely smooth casting and retrieving. I'm finding the higher quality reels allow for less casting effort, much less compared to entry level reels to achieve the same casting distance. This means you'll backlash less because you're not having to whip the rod as vigorously.
