fuel tank sealer

I found a few tiny pin hole in the front edge of my Triumph TR7 tank,just slightly weeping petrol.I followed the instructions on the pack and applied the putty like sealant.The leak stopped for a few days but then the petrol found its way through the sealant ,sort of blowing a bubble in it then bursting.I ended up replacing the tank
