Marvellous!
I brought this as a birthday present for someone and he was blown away by it, telling me there it looks like a definitive guide with information that is difficult to access online. He is sure that book will continue to be invaluable in his studies and was very very happy!

Stunning, Epic novel about humanity and inhumanity.
This is an epic, beautifully written, moving and, at times, shocking novel bringing together 4 main characters, two 'low caste' tailors, the indepedant daughter of a Parsi doctor and the son of one of her school friends. There is humour and there is trauma; a lot of trauma as the novel zeroes in on the state of emergency in India during the 70s, but also gives background to the main characters. Mistry's writing is rooted in a time and place but also transcends it to become a story about humanity and inhumanity, about us all in some way or another. This novel goes beyond star ratings. STUNNING!
