Good item - but one tip!
1 of 1 found this helpful This seems to work fine... so far anyway! (2weeks) Can't complain at the price either, if it does last a while.
*Important tip* - I put the battery into my phone and charged it, but the phone wouldn't turn on. I was almost ready to conclude that the phone was broken and throw the phone away, when I noticed a very small strip of tape across the contacts. VERY small - almost invisible! When I removed this, it worked fine!

Very fiddly, but worked eventually!
This is a good strong shelving unit and great value, but you *must* do things the right way, to save yourself a *lot* of frustration!!
As with most cheap furniture items, the instructions are extremely basic, and not very clear.
When hammering the 'tabs' into the 'slots', you must use a screwdriver to **very slightly** widen the slots (by levering them), before inserting the tabs. Widen them both top and bottom, and on both sides of the metal column (so each slot has 4 widening operations). This will make sure that the tabs go all the way through the slots, and don't either get stuck on the very narrow edges of the slots, or else 'stick out' on the outside of the slots, ie. don't go back into the bottom part of the slot.
Also, when installing the central strut under each shelf, I suggest that you use a screwdriver to 'bend back' the tab on each side, towards the centre of the structure. That way the strut can't be pushed back out, and is stronger.
I didn't have a mallet, but I do understand now why one would be better! I used a hammer wrapped around a thick cloth, but the wider surface area of a mallet would have been better. I ended up using a small wooden block, wrapped in a cloth, and hammered that onto the surface of the metal struts.
Good luck!
