Concise and informative
This is a great little reference book, covering a large time-scale and introducing the reader to lots of artists and ideas. A good starting base for further study in more detail.

More to say?
1 of 1 found this helpful This book is honest and well-researched; the result of a lot of experience and experimentation. It starts really well, with a lot of background information, followed by quite detailed applications taken from traditional kata. The book ends, however, quite abruptly, with just some lists of pressure points (some vague) and their alternative names. I wonder if Sensei Clark is somehow holding back on some detail here, for fear of people getting into deep water with these potentially dangerous techniques. Some common pressure points and striking points are missing from the main body of the book, and I would have been interested to see a bigger variety of striking tools such as various hand forms, elbows and knees. As with some other pressure-point disciplines, it is not always possible to control the adversary enough to apply the desired technique, so it is a relief that the author reminds the reader that such skills are best used in combination with an existing, well-structured martial arts system.
