Heavyweight (vinyl) with great features

Lovely cover. The albums are really strong too. Some of his most varied material since the 'tree. The production and musicianship is as you would expect from Wilson - top draw. I'd say this is possibly his best solo record, although my opinion does change almost daily regarding my favourites - but this is one of them.

Rediscover these classic albums

Is it worth it? If you have these albums already, should you be shelling out for this (rather nice) box set? The short answer is yes. And if you don’t have them, well what are you waiting for? The “Remix” tag is misleading. The sound approximates the original mix but things are more clear. I don’t know if this makes it better. I haven’t decided yet if the element of performance is lost because I can follow the base throughout Roundabout. But there is more detail. Relayer is less tinny and a more enjoyable listen - less harsh. The covers are good quality, the colours are brighter than my originals and the new artwork looks great. Fragile has the little booklet but there’s no inner lyrics with Close To The Edge, everything else is as you were. All in all a good way to rediscover these five classics.
