Octalink V1 Bottom Bracket in the bank.
It's a brand-new part which I bought to keep as a spare. I may not need it for years, as the original part is working well. However, it came to my attention that bottom bracket cartridges with "Octalink V1" are becoming scarce, and I did not want to have to replace my crankset when the BB eventually wears out. Now I'm set for life!

Small cog spare
I was glad to find this cog available as a separate piece. When I received it, I discovered that my original cog was not as worn as it looked. The new one is virtually identical to the one with 7,000 miles on it. So I have a spare!

Alfine 8-speed trigger shift with Nexus-8 hub
I purchased the Alfine 8-speed trigger-shift because I could not find the "Nexus" equivalent. As far as I can tell, these are identical. This shifter is used on my dedicated "winter" bike, a Dahon Mu XL folder. It replaces the original whose cable was deteriorating at the hub end. I could have replaced the cable only, but this shifter was reasonably priced and easier to install. I have kept the original shifter as a spare.
The hub end came with a different interface for the cassette joint. This was easily removed, and the nut ("inner cable fixing bolt") that engages the hub was re-attached at 101mm from the end of the housing as per Shimano specs. I installed the cable and the hub was within a couple turns of the adjuster (on the shifter body) of being perfect. Riding now in 20 degree (F) weather with perfect shifting.
