Solid, effective, great value - and hard work
Delivery was speedy - really rather impressive. Build quality seems good, and it was easy to assemble. The height adjustment is really easy, but adjusting the blade gap is NOT. You need to spend quite a bit of time experimenting with the adjustment screws, and it is wise to be nervous, as you are close to those rather sharp, rotaty blades. That aspect of the design is NOT user-friendly. Otherwise it works, and it cuts fairly well, with the following reservations: (1) The cuttings bin juts out a long way in front, and is very loose fitting. This means that when you come to the edge of the lawn, and come up against any border plants, the bin invariably comes off. The only way to resolve this problem is to leave the edges until last, and then remove the bin when you cut - not ideal, as it sprays clippings all over your borders; (2) It is exceptionally wide as a mower. Clearly, there are positives to this, BUT if you are mowing a lawn which has any angles or curves or tight corners, this makes it really a bit of a palaver to cut. I now dread cutting the back lawn which is round - whereas the front lawn is, comparatively, a doddle. Overall, I think it an effective tool for the job, and I am conscious that it is making me work which I guess is a good thing. I have just found that I cannot *just* go out and mow the lawn, I have to think out in advance, how I'm going to cut different areas, and which angle I will approach things at. And there's a lot of hand-shearing required afterwards! If they found a way of putting the bin on the back end, life would be an awful lot easier.
