Meg Baird - Dear Companion (CD/LP 2007)
0 of 1 found this helpful Meg Baird,(Singer in Espers),has produced a beautiful first solo album destined to become a classic in the `New American Folk`movement.-For example,her cover of `Willy of Wimsbury`is actually equal,in quality of interpretation,to Jackie McShee`s(Pentangle`s)1960`s classic Album.
All the tracks warrant more than one play & this cd/LP could revolve on your sound system,as it did on one of mine,for some time.
Meg Baird,like.Marissa Nadler,has,`The voice of an Angel`.
Dreamy & worth a few eBay bids,especially the limited edition LP,which may return much more than your inital investment by next year,or even sooner,(Like Espers 1st LP) once they have all sold out!
PS:I have,sadly,no connection with this Artist,or her website.She has never heard of me-but I have heard much of her!

Mariza-Live In London (DVD 2004)
0 of 1 found this helpful I first heard, `Mariza`, on `5Live`radio, in the middle of the night on their tiny`World Music`slot.Her beautiful emotion filled voice `stood out`as did the music & though I did not(nor still do)understand a word,her `emotion`& `Feeling`& the excellent music is universal.As usual,the 5Live`Reveiwer`never SPELT the name of the artist,annoying, but a few minutes on eBay & Voila!
This quality DVD is really excellent & it is set in a converted chapel in London.Mariza and her musicians extract the last ounce of emotion from every song-& what beautiful emotion!Heartache,sadness,joy & celebration of life are all here.
This would be a lovely DVD to play at anytime & with the beautiful lit chapel,would be especially nice at Christmas!
Perhaps she should follow the example of `Francoise Hardy` & do an `English`Album.-I am sure her accent would be just as delightful,even if some meanings were`Lost in Translation`.
A note of caution:In the `Extra`interview,Mariza,mentions playing a set with`Sting`...(Thankfully not on this DVD)
So,Alas,expect `his` next Album to be `Stings greatest Fado Hits`,now he`s done the, `No copyright to pay,16th centuryLoot stuff`.
But before Fado music is destroyed in pursuit of filling Stings vast, already overflowing euro coffers,Buy this.Open the eBay parcel.Sit back... & hear Portugal & the Portugese in the wonderful new light that is-Mariza!

DULUX Absolute White is the Absolute BEST`!
1 of 1 found this helpful Worth every penny,especially on ceilings as it never seems to,`yellow`,even years after application.If one uses brands like,Farrow,or,Little Greene,(excellent quality paints)then this price range has become a standard `price`for a 2.5litre tub.
*One warning: I have found:the lid can be a `Pig`to put firmly back after use,(unless it has now been redesigned)so do make sure it is securely sealed!
I have used this product for years.There is nothing I know of to match it where a pure white finish is required.
I have no connection with Dulux,but will be sad if they discontinue this excellent White paint.
