High as Xmas, but great sound.
I had the original cd set, but at a friend’s instigation, invested (heavily) in this. The cast is heard to far better advantage, and the orchestra! A Teutonic Don G., but there is a place for that in the universe, as this set proved.

Great Serkin performances
It’s hard to imagine anybody doing better by Brahma’s first piano concerto that Serkin and Szell, but Ormandy’s no slouch, either. Serkin’s ever-searching performances never smack of rubato for its own sake. He sets a standard all his own.
