Clone Wars Soundtrack - Not Star Wars As We Know It?
I made this purchase as my young son is a bit mad about both the movie and the tv series - and I, myself, being a Star Wars nut, thought it would be an addition the Star Wars soundtracks that I have. One thing to be made clear - this is NOT a conventional Star Wars soundtrack; the main themes are based on John Williams' original scores, but, in the main, it has a far more pumped-up feel about it, with short pieces echoing the likes of 300 or Clash Of The Titans. Having said all that, it is a very decent film score, with Kevin Kiner having to juggle with the musical legacy of Williams' music and creating a new, musical landscape to compliment the high-octane action in the movie. My suggestion is, if you have seen the movie and paid any attention to the music, and liked it, just buy it - it's a good fiver's worth!!!!!!

Big Country Rarities Vol. VIII
This is another release of rare recordings by the Scots rockers it is a real must-have for any true B.C. fans, and although many of the tracks do appear in their polished up, final versions on various albums, it nevertheless allows the listener to tap into the band's creative process, how these songs evolved and how some great ideas never made it onto any album.
These releases of rarities do include some real gems that have hidden away in the archives; in particular on this album, "Small Town Big News" and "Pan American Irish Girl" are fantastic ideas that Stuart Adamson and co. had come up with, and eventually discarded.
Although this is not for the casual Big Country listener, it surely is a fine addition to any fan's collection, as it highlights the band's craftmanship in honest songwriting and shows how many people regard Big Country as one of this country's true great rock bands, as well extending the legacy that the late Adamson has left.
