Good as a summerhouse power supply
1 of 1 found this helpful I was a bit wary about buying a Lucas product, being a 1970s British Biker for whom Uncle Joe had won the dubious distinction of being known as 'the Prince of Darkness' - owing to the number of times the lights went out at 2:30am when it was tipping it down with rain... However, these batteries are holding their charge well in my off-grid summerhouse, where they are float-charged from a solar panel, enabling lighting and a radio/CD player at night. My only criticism is they're slightly wider at the bottom than their predecessor (76mm as opposed to 75mm) - so I had to modify the battery tray. The outer case is tapered slightly to allow extraction from the mould at manufacture: this one is less so than others, hence my problem. The supplied terminal fixing bolts are a little too long and are ordinary plated steel, which could corrode - so I reused the old stainless fixings. As for longevity: only time will tell.

Not as good as the Weldtite extractor I bought 30 years ago, but still adequate
Not as good as the Weldtite extractor I bought 30 years ago, but still adequate. Good point: it has a reversible thrust pin so if one end gets worn, there's a spare.

Original part so straight swap in
It's an original B&D part so fitting was a straight swap. I had thought I would have to buy a 3rd party item with the correct dimensions but the wrong connector - but no. If the old girl lasts for another 40 years it will see me out!
