Easy to fit to existing Drayton Back Plate and that’s about it.
The product is well made. However it’s not easy to get your head around the instructions for setting it up. At the initial set up you have to program it manually to tell it that it’s working heating and hot water separately. If you miss this switch option in the set up process you effectively end up with no hot water on a y plan system. Then comes the problem of resetting it. It’s a long read to find that bit of information. The receiver and the programmer have to be reset individually. The receiver is just one button. The left one for 15 seconds. You then have to access the installer menu to reset the programmer. Just accessing that is an ordeal. Press the cog symbol for three seconds then find the installer menu option 3 from a choice of 4 to access the reset code 20. Then comes the actual programming. ‘Off’ is below the lowest temperature setting for any set time period. If you don’t set that correctly the programmer switches the boiler on when the programmer temp is reached whether you want it or not. It has several time periods throughout the day which have to be set individually for each day. Having sorted the heating side out you then have to repeat the process with the hot water side. No temperature settings to input in for that one though. So having done all that we come onto the wiser app for control from your smart phone. You have to put all your personal details into setting it up. So in theory anyone who works in the control centre at wiser could potentially know when you go away on holiday. It also asks you for access to your contacts list. Having done all this it came up error and would not let me access the control settings at all. Forget it. I just deleted the wiser app from my phone. I’ll give that one a miss. Now I just need to work out how to make sure it remains off when I go away on holiday. Any installer using this product for the first time is likely to be at your place for some time. Getting the hang of it easily is an art in itself. Practice makes perfect. Or someone writes a better set of instructions that are easy to follow.
