    not a shocking film
Alan Rickman plays Mr Spurrier as a real snob - I don't know if this true, but Spurrier did come from a wealthy background, so maybe.. Anyway, Rickman et al work together to give the pioneering feel of American wine in the 1970s, and the look of the film keeps that in mind. There are definite wine references- more so than Sideways or A Good Year, that make this a proper 'wino' film. That said, I did watch it twice, and the commentary etc add in the form of extras. It's a niche film but portrays a very important point in wine industry history - the Yankees are coming! - and for this reason I'd recommend a look.

    Stocking filler book
Little summary of some great whisky brands without going overboard on details by a renowned whisky writer

    49 discs of drama
seminal at the time for 24 hours being "real time" - so a series of 24 episodes covered one day. 12 episodes for the London one, later on. CTU where Jack (Kiefer Sutherland's character) suffers all kinds of disaster as does his family, and Mr S. is good at playing the overworked but capable special agent to combat terror and lead teams into battle with drug dealers. He's looking older now on Designated Survivor - but in this he's fighting fit, and it's 49+ discs to keep you going out of winter and into Spring.
