Paul Weller - Genius

This is a spellbinding set of studio and live versions of material from the earlier years of Weller’s solo career. Some of the stripped back studio work is brilliant, shining a spotlight on some of the gems not caught by ‘Best of’ sets. His version of Ronnie Lane’s ‘The Poacher’ is wonderful. Get the 4 disc box set if you can find it but the 2 disc set is very fine and easily available.
