king Ezio....will take you higher!
HIGHER is Ezio's third studio album, issued in 2000 following their Shepherd's Bush Empire performance(also on DVD/live CD). It features Booga on guitar (acoustic AND electric!), Lydia Cascarino on bass, Peter Van Hooke on drums (he also drummed with Stackridge!), Paul Carrack and Rod Argent among others. This album contains some wonderful songs and intelligent lyrics...STILL ICE COLD refers back to '(Ice cold like) Alex' on the Black Boots album; AT THAT MOMENT reminds me, at times, of Pink Floyd's 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond',which is appropriate as Ezio is a also a bit of a 'crazy diamond'....how can an Italian whose every other word starts with an 'F' write such articulate and inventive lyrics?; YOU'RE STRANGE could be autobiographical; PERFECT is a great song except for the reference to 'a beautiful pervert' in the chorus which, although clever, can make me squirm; HIGHER is a tribute to ? .....Elvis?; MEET ME IN THE GODS is a quiet, sensitive, introspective song containing the words...."I don't believe in God but still find that I'm praying"....; ORANGES and ANYMORE are typical Ezio songs about love/angst; FREEDOM starts with the wonderful lyric..."I know you shower with your shoes on so you always look so skinny and tall"...do I detect an element of jealousy?; SOMETIMES SILENCE completes the album,a slow, quiet finish to what is a laid-back, personal collection of songs....there is no Saxon Street or Deeper......and this is not as inspirational as 'Black Boots on Latin Feet, or Diesel Vanilla, but still worth listening to. See EZIO play live - they are AMAZING!

Best 'King acoustic CD ever recorded?
This 1995 CD was the first proper CD recorded by Ezio and Booga - it is worth buying simply for the cover photo which features Ezio in a maternity dress and Booga actually smiling! It is almost impossible to review this CD....it is probably the best acoustic CD ever recorded...it contains twelve amazing songs, with incredible guitar playing and intelligent, witty lyrics...these songs are timeless gems of creativity.....buy it, play it, sing it, love it......as Ezio says..."acoustic music is 'king rubbish"...better still, visit the Ezio website and see them live - they are still 'alive and gigging' and appearing somewhere near you...you will not be disappointed in the enigma that is Ezio...! If you are '30+ and confused', be a 'brave man', 'cancel today', 'go' and find your 'wild side', 'steal away' on a 'Tuesday night' and experience the 'agony' of 'saxon street', 'the further we stretch', a 'thousand years', 'angel song' and 'just to talk to you again'.... KING WONDERFUL!
I love this CD so much that i am bidding for every CD (and buying)that is put on ebay and giving them away as presents to anyone who is (i) not tone deaf, and (ii)appreciates intelligent use of the English language....i have managed to find three people so far......this CD is sublime...it cannot fail to lift you to a higher level....it is pure euphoria.....a morphine-induced high without the morphine..(okay, maybe a little alcohol helps!)....who cares when it was made or who the musicians were....these songs are timeless....if Lennon/McCartney had written them, they would have been covered a million times...Jane Austen would enjoy 'Deeper'; Christopher Landon would appreciate (ice cold like) 'Alex'...(which is about Cambridge, not Alexandria); Disney would love 'Cinderella'.....every song is a masterpiece of musical and lyrical inventiveness (although Booga has borrowed the riff in 'Moon' from Gordon Giltrap)....if heaven exists, i hope they play this CD there!
