Win the Crown the best way possible! Fight for it!
This game holds a special place in my heart and remains on my hard drive to this day. Like many people I was anxiously waiting for Lords of the Realm 3 to come out because of this game but of course like alot of games never lives up to the original great game. This game is a good mixture of castle management (but not too much thankfully), castle sieging, alliance making and breaking and territory domination for the crown. It does all these things by a turn-based system for the world/territory map and real-time battles for sieges. Your ultimate goal of course to take over all the enemy castles. This brings me to one of the major problems I had with this game. Sieging an enemy with a large castle with a moat and all the fancies and a billion archers (you really didn't need anything else for the castles) was nearly impossible after awhile. You would have to hope to get lucky and attack the castle when the units were out fighting or be stuck. Also the game shows it age by now graphics wise but of course graphics aren't all what make a game fun. It is also very time consuming, if you've played any Civilization games or Heroes of Might and Magic (Oh how I love those games too!) you will have an idea of length. Those potential gripes aside, it is a very fun game with its hillarious voices and sounds! "Welcome, to Lords of The Realm Two! Please select your shield!"

My favorite Heroes title yet!
As a fan of Heroes 3 for many years I finally got to play this title, and wow was I impressed. Heroes of Might and Magic IV is a turn-based game and in this version takes a bigger emphasis on the Heroes part in this copy having your hero fight alongside your troops. One of my favorite enhancements to this version is being able to split your troops from your heros so you aren't constantly running back for reinforcements. This also is a great way to scout out your enemies and garrison areas. With all the many artifacts to collect, levels to gain and enemies to conquer you can be looking at nights devoted to this great game. Sure the graphics have been enhanced from previous versions and fighting in the many different types of terrain in battles is great...but the graphics could have been improved for a 2002 title. Some other turn-based games around the time of this games release looked a whole lot prettier. Thankfully the music and sounds are still excellent. I also didn't quite like the idea of being limited to which creatures I could make in a certain base. Making crusaders for instance prevented you from making angels and so on. That being said, get ready for hours of fun in this amazing title that will be loved by Heroes fanatics like myself and most any turn-based fan!

One of the best video games ever made!
If you haven't already played this game.. then you have no idea what you're missing! This game is very hard to master but this is where alot of the fun lies. You first make a base anywhere in the world and hunt down UFOs with your interceptors and other aircraft (which you can improve on to become a master alien hunter!). You are then thrown into a third-person enviroment where you have to use turn based strategy to lay waste to the alien scum. Sure the game shows its age graphic wise, and it does take a long time to play and master as any true strategy turn-based game. These two things are the only turnoffs I could imagine for anyone loving it. Although there has been many remakes, including the 2005 Laser Squad Nemesis by the same creators, none of them has been yet to compare to the greatness of this game. It still sells on ebay for a fair ammount of money (especially the collector's edition) which is a true sign of why it's hailed as one of the best. Build your fleet, save the world, enjoy!
