Excellent Strauss series from Japan.

Paavo Jarvi is well known among U.S. classical fans, but Japanese orchestras have not been well represented in this market, and the NHK Orchestra in Tokyo has long been a first rate ensemble that has performed under the batons of famous European and Japanese conductors. Jarvi considers this orchestra ideal for Strauss, and these are fine performances with outstanding sound. In Europe and the U.S., this series is only available on red book CD. The imported multichannel Japanese SACD sounds that much better on a 5.0 audio system! It's a little pricey, but worth it if you like surround SACD paired with outstanding performances. Ebay is the only site that I have found that carried the SACD version. Snap it up while you can!

Fine three channel live recording

Outstanding remastering in original three channel sound of a Tony Bennett concert in Carnegie Hall at the peak of his career. The sound quality is incredibly lifelike. Played through a good system, this recording hasn't aged a bit. Few live recordings today have this level of realistic presence.
