Greenberg at his best
This is Greenberg at his best. He lets it rip, with a wonderful mix of biography and context, musical and historical. His take on American music is especially interesting.
Some comments have complained that there is too little music compared to his other course. The reason is the prohibitive cost of royalties, but he compensates by including an extraordinary list of URLs. It takes some time to work back and forth between the lectures and listening to the music, but the result is deeply satisfactory.
A great added pleasure is Greenberg's lecture on himself as a composer. Fascinating!

Fascinating and amusing.
I am about a third of the way through. Excellent, clear lectures, and a superb booklet. The lectures are pitched just right for me — I have lots of general education but very little prior knowledge of linguistics.

One of the best!
This is an excellent course, one of the best of many I have watched and listened to. Connor is clear in his delivery and chooses his material very well -- as expected given his scholarly work.
I salute him especially for the course guidebook which is truly excellent. Not least of its virtues is that it abandons the silly outline form of many of these guidebooks.
