Reasonable product
It's is more lightweight than it appears, but looks alright. I bought two of them, one for the garage and one for the shed. When put together they agreed with each other, so they are at least consistent, probably accurate enough for my application. The minimum needle is quite stiff, (I realise it has to be stiffer to turn than the maximum one so that you can set each one without affecting the other one), but one of mine was very stiff which might be difficult if you don't have a very good grip. It did loosen a bit after twiddling it back and forth a few times.

Promising but let down by poor execution
7 of 7 found this helpful It has a good wide base and three tee slot grooves, which are good features. However my example had so poor machining of the dovetails that I had to re-machine them on my shaper. The problem was that the opposite side of the male dovetails, (on both top and bottom slide) was not machined parallel to the other side. In order to stop the slide jamming the machinist just stepped in with the milling cutter so leaving three steps. Therefore the dovetail when mated up with the female only touched for part of its length. The castings underneath, which you couldn't see until you dismantled it, had significant porosity. The lead screws were 4mm pitch but the dials were marked with 8 divisions for one complete turn. The lead screws had ball thrust bearings, but no radial location, (I bushed mine). The knobs on the handles are a very loose fit on the fixing screws.
All in all the basic design was fairly alright, but it was let down by bad quality. A shame really as it wouldn't really cost significantly more to do it correctly. It would be good value if machined correctly, even better if the design deficiencies were corrected, or conversely charge a bit more and get the quality right.

Better than grovelling around on the floor
Better than grovelling around on the floor. For my six cylinder Triumph Vitesse engine I made a bracket to mount the engine sideways, so the flywheel is still accessible, and the overhang is less.
