The Borrowers - Series 1 BBC DVD
Excellent DVD with lots of nostalgia for those of us old enough to remember seeing it on TV first time round. Would have rated it as excellent if it were not for the fact that in a couple of scenes dark colours, eg hair, comes out as a blue/black blotch with no detail. Probably due to the limitations of 1992 special effects.
For some reason, although the DVD contains a trailer for Series 2, this seems to be unavailable, even direct from the BBC shop, although it has been issued in the past both on VHS and DVD. The BBC seem more interested in pushing DVDs of recent productions rather than reaping the rewards of their wealth of archive material.

Disappointing, to say the least
I purchased one of these on ebay in Feb 2008. When delivered it made a horrendous noise from the VHS unit and frequently came up with error message 'Cannot record on this disc' when inserting DVDs. The supplier replaced the unit immediately and the replacement unit worked perfectly for a time, but, 7 months later, it has started to come up with the same error message again. Sometimes it will record on DVD on 2nd or 3rd try, but that's not much use when you want to record live TV, and even then, when you think it's recorded successfully, it may come up with the message at the end of the recording and wipe it all out. Also I have had a number of recordings which it has refused to finalise. I have now got to the point where it is refusing to record anything on DVD, and black/dark scenes on VHS have bright blue flecks/flashes across them.
I have contacted the supplier who has told me to return the unit for repair, but this has cost me £11 for carriage. I am awaiting the outcome, but sadly don't expect it to last long even when fixed. Still, you never know, maybe 3rd time lucky!

Worzel Gummidge - Series 1
I bought this as I used to watch it with my children when they were young. Still as funny as ever but a pity about the variable colour quality of the recording. Still, you can't have everything. Jon Pertwee must be one of the most versatile character actors this country has ever produced, (I still think he was definitely the best ever Dr Who).
Great pity the children of today aren't offered TV series of comparable quality.
