Hasn't broken yet!
It hasn't broken yet for me, despite being second hand, pretty old, and not guaranteed, so it's all good with me! Doesn't seem excessively noisy either.

Hitachi DMP260, cheap and cheerful
No doubt this product is a real baragin- I paid under £10 for mine. For that price, I was surprised by the wealth of features including video playback (though converting videos to work on it can be tricky). The battery life seems OK too. The downside is reliability- mine crashes practically every other time I try to play a video, and occasionly, it randomly says some songs it has happily played before are 'unsupported format'! Still, I think it was £10 well spent.

Simple, robust, cheap, and good!
This is a good scientific calculator, which will probably do everything you need for a good price. It has an easy to replace battery of the LR44 type (an alkaline button cell), and a clear 2 line display with review memory. Much better than the 'natural display' types in my opinion, as it works more predictably with it's simple screen. Why waste your money on a more expensive model?
