An enjoyable cajon to play.
I have all 5 of the LP Matador Stave Cajons, and this one is my favorite. The response of the frontplate is very sensitive, giving this cajon a very enjoyable playing experience. It seems to also have a lot of range in sound. Depending on the acoustics of the room or the area in which you are playing, it can give both a pretty beefy bass sound and a more "tenor" type bass sound. The snare sound is also pretty rangy, from a crisp snap, to a fuller and heavier tone. I've also found a nice unity in the sound throughout the cajon, smoothly transitioning from snare sounds to bass sounds. I also love the look, as it is bit more exotic than many cajons out there.

practical and effective
I use this mounting plate for the Roland HPD-20, but it will work for any Roland module with 4 screws on the bottom. I've used it for the TD-12, TD-20X, SPD-30, and the SPDSX. It's plastic, but I don't think you need the metal mounting plate unless, perhaps, you hit unusually and consistently hard.

Works okay
I found that even with the Opsol, I couldn't load a mini shell through the ejection port, as it kept jamming up. But if I loaded the mini shells through the tube and racked them one at a time, it worked fine.
