An essential part of a Bradford Barton Collection of Railway Books
If you know there books, you’ll probably be a collector. You won’t learn anything from them, but the photos are always good and evocative of a great bygone era when Steam travel ruled.

The Highland Lines brought to lufe
I guess you either love this series of Ian Allan books or not. I have a huge collection, and I love the series because of the quality of colour photography and detail which brings the picture to life. Black and white shots are often indistinct, grainy, shadowy and bleak. This book contains some super shots of the West Highland Line in the autumn of its life, by some legendary contemporary rail photographers. Against a backdrop of the stunning West Highland landscape, the book is a delight. Stanier Black 5’s, Thompson B1’s, Peppercorn K1’s, Gresley K4’s, and the usual collection of the old Highland brightly painted Caledonian stalwarts, like Glen Douglas. I paid a mere £3. For a book in A1 condition, an absolute bargain!!!
