Worthy of several second glances.
Large pictures in colour, many on aspects of the story not illustrated in most 'Alice's. There is at least one good sized picture on each pair of pages, and sometimes more. These are not recaps of any previous artist and have great merit for both adults and offspring. A new sense of changing scale evolves as the heroine changes her size. The moods and attitudes of the many varied characters are revealed in their expressions and their movement.

Falling For Alice.
This book feels different. The pages feel thick and their edges are not straight. It feels 'personal' somehow. This only adds to the excitement of owning and reading (and just looking at) it
The illustrations are very high standard, although all are drawings and uncoloured, except for Alice falling that appears at the front title. They do accompany the relevant parts of the story and mirror the text closely.
An interesting addition are the remarks and extra drawings in the rear section.
For a smaller version it does seem very spacious inside.
No collector of Alice would want to miss this one, which is as English as a Bowler hat.

The Saga Continues.
If you enjoy the cut and stab of Viking battles in England then this is the book to buy and read. It is less story and more action than some in the series, but this suits the author's style. It does not matter greatly if you have not read the other books in the series, this episode should just whet your appetite. DavidT
