Teac Cassette and CD Player with USB Recorder and Mic Input AD-850

An excellent niche device blending old-school with newer tech.
I bought this because I love all the features of this stereo, and the features all check out perfectly. I love being able to play MP3 mix CD's in my living room now, and even though I'm not much of a cassette guy, it's nice to have the option. My favorite feature is being able to hook up my vinyl player and record from old records straight onto a thumb drive. Worked great! (though a helpful tip if you're an audiophile is to be prepared to edit the recorded files on a PC, mostly to split up the tracks, but also to adjust the audio levels to sound good, otherwise all your tracks will sound pretty quiet). My one small complaint would have to be that the display is a little too old-fashioned, displaying very little text in blocky, slow-scrolling letters. For playing MP3 discs or USB drives, it would be nice if there was a way to scroll through the folders like the CD player in my car can, instead of just having to hit the >>| button repeatedly. Granted, I'm sure the product would've cost a LOT more if it had a more 'modern' display, so I'm not complaining too much. Overall very satisfied!

    A complex, intertwined character-driven masterpiece
PT Anderson proves to be a master of cinema, in writing, cinematography and direction, both of story and actors. Magnolia proves to be his greatest achievement, with characters that make you sympathize for and fall in love with, and story that hooks you in from beginning to end. He twists a conventional way of presenting his movies in the most subtle ways, through interesting camera maneuvers and elements of the story that take a while to settle in before you understand its genius. Just a warning, for those who have not seen it yet, the ending may seem as out of nowhere and pretty much ridiculous. But allow it to settle in and give it a chance. When it's settled in, take in context of the rest of the movie and particularly the story and you'll realize it actually does fit right in. Along with PT Anderson, we have many great supporters of the cast and crew that help it as much. Jon Brion's beautiful and intense score is a landmark achievement, as well as Aimee Mann's excellent songs that serve a great soundtrack. All the performances are top-notch, including Tom Cruise's Oscar nomination, and in my opinion, one of his only truly memorable performances, as well as Philip Seymour Hoffman, John C. Reilly, Melora Walters and Jason Robards, in his last theatrical release, giving iconic performances. Overall, Magnolia is not one to miss, if not just for the moviegoing experience, but for a life experience, by proving to be very philosophical as well as an artistic achievement.

    An action-packed season
If you're in the mood for all-out action with never-let-up suspense, watch any season of 24. But like the others, season 2 is one that is meant to be seen from beginning to end. Which is why DVDs were invented. I never watched the show on the air week by week, which is good for me because the cliffhangers of each episode leave me needing to know what happens next immediately. In this season, admittedly, the drama feels slightly more spoon-fed than the first season, but the action is more clever and never feels repetitive (except for the body count). Xander Berkeley and Dennis Haysbert give the best performances in this season. Granted, the Kim Bauer storyline becomes really unnecessary for a good portion of the show, but ultimately leads up to a defining character moment. And Jack Bauer, as always, never wavers into the John McClane stereotype and manages to seem realistic with raw emotions, as well as an ultimate bad-ass. There's many twists and turns throughout this season, and for those who have just finished with season 1, don't hesitate a second for the next awesome season.
