Nice car at a fair price.
This is a well made, painted and assembled Roundhouse 40 foot gondola kit with Kadee style magnetic couplers. The load looks realistic and the car is weighted to NMRA or greater standards. Light weathering enhsnces the overall effect of a car that's seen some service.

I've always been very fond of Life like'...
I've always been very fond of Life like's Proto 2000 line of HO scale diesel locomotives. I have quite a few of their Alco PA and PB engines in various western railroad color schemes. Having just become more interested in the Denver & Rio Grande railroad. I was happy to add this locomotive to my collection. It tested out fine on my DC test layout. The headlight and Mars light worked as designed though brightness did depend on DC track voltage.

Great little model at a reasonable price.
I would not have known about this product were it not for a some photos posted on instagram that showed this model built and cleverly weathered. That particular model was listed as being from Faller, but I learned that it had also been sold by Walther's and Lionel with the plastic parts molded in slightly different colors. The Lionel version was actually better looking color-wise than some of the other versions of this kit.
This is a neat little kit that combines the water tower and sand house into a single facility with a pretty small footprint, so it's ideal for model railroads with limited space for locomotive servicing. With the addition of appropriate weathering, painted details, and HO scale "junk" around the model, it should make a great addition to any model railroad.
I've decided to use this model on the Christmas layout that I'm building since it will fit well with the early 1900's era of the layout. I'm thinking of splitting the sand house bin in half, using one half for sand and the other for coal or just kit bashing an extra coal bin on one end. Adding a small crane with a bucket to lift the coal into the locomotive tender and an ash pit under the track would then make this a one-stop engine servicing facility.
