ANR is the way to go
Active Noise Reduction headsets should NOT be your first purchase unless you know you will continue in aviation. They are pricey.
The Zulu 3 was what I could afford when I upgraded. They work flawlessly. The difference from DC to Z3 is leaps.
My only gripe is the uni direction boom for the mic. DC headsets are reversible. Mostly I’m a left seater and the cord is long enough. But I like things tidy and tucked away.
