Garbage Disposals have changed.
What is surprising about this garbage disposal is that it weighed less than the old 1/2 HP unit. Unlike the old all metal unit that was removed, this model is mostly plastic and may be more resistive to corrosion. The motor, like those in many newer appliances, appears to be of permanent magnet DC type, making it both lighter and quieter. It was possible to install the disposal in the exiting position without using the various plastic drain pipes and fittings that were included. Care should be taken to ensure that any old drain connection to the rear of the new unit is correctly gasketed, otherwise drips can occur - as on the first two instals. The written installation instructions leave a lot to be desired but maybe the video does better? If replacing an existing unit one needs to be aware that this disposal, like many today, is fatter and may require moving or modifying shelves, etc. The disposal includes a remote push switch that can be discard as long as the unit is left in the "on" position and control is from a wall switch. Overall the disposal appears to be a very good value even if a challenge to instal drip free.

Oil Pressure Sensor works Great
The oil pressure sensor works fine replacing the originsl sensor. One does need the correct deep socket, small hands and an agile body to actually install the new sensor on a 2005 Suburban!

Replacement Sprocket Does the Job
1 of 1 found this helpful After drilling out two rivets the replacement sprocket was inserted, the bracket reassembled and the door opener worked fine. It was a mistake to bend the bracket to remove the broken sprocket rather than drilling out the rivets in the first place. It is hoped that the new sprocket does not fail so quickly as the original one as it is rather an inconvenience to have to replace.
