you pays your money........
well I read it because I had to but I felt a bit stupid whilst doing it! I'm reading all of the tom thorne books in order and this was next in line so I was looking forward to reading it and mostly, I do enjoy them. this one however, just seemed a bit too far-fetched and I was having to suspend reason in order to enjoy it (if that makes sense?). stuart nicklin is back, surprise surprise and he seems to be calling the shots and has the police jumping through hoops in order to get him to locate a long dead body on a desolate island off the coast of wales. there really isn't any suspense, everyone plods around and the thrilling climax is, er, non-existent! ho hum. has tom thorne, detective, been exhausted as a character? I have no doubt i'll read the next book but that's only to satisfy my need to see things through to the end.

gripping!
gripping read! even so long after the event, marilyn still has the charismatic ability to pull us in, ever eager to find out the definitive 'truth' about her untimely death and her suspect relationships with an american dynasty.
