Edexcel GCSE (9-1) Business, Second Edition, Marcouse, Ian, Used; Very Good Book

Few other options
As a Head of Business, I sadly do not rate this book and attribute it's success to the fact that there are fewer alternative textbooks available to purchase. It is better than the only other GCSE Edexcel Business textbook by Copeland-Smith and Redfern, mainly because the topics in this Marcouse book are in the same order as the specification and logically sequenced.
Other than that, the explanations are vague and for many topics (for example, topic 2.1 - adapting the marketing mix) the book relies upon examples which just repeat the same basic premise over and over in a number of different ways, without actually going into much detail.
The 'exam questions' at the end of each topic are terrible - they do not utilise Edexcel exam technique and the style is completely different. The accompanying business information, which students are supposed to use for application, is often useless to actually answer the question and so they are useless as activities for students.
Unless I need some emergency cover - I never use this book. If you want my advice... save your (hopefully department's) money and instead purchase some lesson resources some TES, such as Teachonomics or similar.
