A cult classic
These films are somewhat of a 'love or hate' kind of thing, though perhaps its more like you either love these films, or sit there thinking 'what the hell?' Personally i like the whole dark/comedy mix, so these films have always appealed to me. Oh and the CHEESE! the delightful 80's cheese! they really dont take themselves too seriously, managing to squeeze in some slapstick in there (for example when the main character 'Ash' is getting repeatedly pummeled in the face by a medieval witch using wrestling moves) and yet retaining its sense of storyline and plot. One of my favorite sets of films.

The thing
The reason I'm buying this film was actually because a freind of mine had never seen it, which compelled me to show him this piece of sci-fi/horror excellence. I remember seeing some of it at a young age and it scaring the crap out of me, then forgetting most of it and seeing it a few years down the line and absolutely falling in love. The special effects don't need mention and i loved the characters and the eerie sense of growing distrust created a great horror story. And who can forget how funny it is when they are all tied to that bench freaking out!
