Collection of Excerpts -- Not the Complete Work
This volume contains extended excerpts from the original, but it is not anywhere near the complete work. It is probably intended for younger readers. It is "Okay" provided you know what you're getting in advance and are satisfied with the price. Here's the scoop: The pages aren't numbered and there is no table of contents. The translator's initials, "B.T.", are given at the end of the translator's preface, but no other information on the translation or translator is provided. No information on the publisher is provided, either, beyond the ISBN number. The cover is attractive and the print and paper quality is OK. I have constructed a table of contents, below. The number of pages indicated in each section include at least 1 page worth of poor quality illustrations and occasionally a blank page (with a couple of extra blank pages at the very end). The print is very large with lots of white space. Elegant and compact...
I have just begun reading several translation of The Divine Comedy--so far, this one is my favorite. I have a hardback edition and appreciate its compactness (all three parts in one volume helpful notes on each canto provided in the back).
