Fat Spanner Bottom Bracket Socket Tool for Shimano

Good, but could, so easily, be better

Compared with the Shimano TL-UN74 it had many advantages:- - The Fatspanner is cheaper. - The Shimano tool requires a 32mm spanner, but the Fatspanner still requires a 22mm spanner or a 1/2” drive ratchet. The choice between a 19mm spanner and a 3/8” drive would be more handier for most DIY bike mechanics. - The wall of the Fatspanner socket, on the inside, behind the splines, is thinner ( than the Shimano),Making it compatible with some non-Shimano BBs. I’m looking forward to many years of service.

Too small for mountain bike wheels

The cycle hooks are too small for mountain bike tyres. Tyres in the photo are x2.25, quite modest for a modern mountain bike. Hooks would be fine for road bikes and hybrid type bikes, but they may not fit some kids bikes. The hooks seem to be well made, strong with a good well defined thread. The red plastic covering appears quite robust.
