Quality stills lens but expensive video lens.
This is a great stils lens, but expensive for a 50mm f1.7
Recommended for stills photographers with cash to burn, but not recommended for videographers on a budget. Considering you can buy a Canon FD mount adapter and a decent used prime lens for under £70, it is difficult to justify spending 3 or 4 times as much on this Panasonic lens. I suppose the advantage of the Panasonic over a Canon lens is the availability of autofocus. However, autofocus isn't much use whilst shooting video because a) the motor makes a loud "purr" that could find its way onto your audio track, b) focus often shifts just when you don't want it to and will often fail to focus when you need it!
Nevertheless, it is a beautiful lens which is reflected in its price.

Clean, lightweight and great reception
I am astounded with the reception from this Italian-made dish which is vastly superior to my 100cm Technomate dish, despite being smaller and much lighter. I was forever trying to fine tune the Technomate to improve reception on borderline channels, but with the Gibertini, I just did a one-time quick alignment and the borderline channels are no longer a problem. As a bonus, this dish paired with a Stab HH100 motor is very quiet when moving between satellites. The Technomate dish on a Technomate motor was quite noisy in comparison.
I'm so impressed by this dish that I will be on the lookout for the 1m version to see what else that can receive.
