A great affordable solution to a possible very expensive problem.
I had a problem with my Audi A6 Avant 3.0 TDI. First I had DPF regeneration warnings, then engine management light on and eventually limp-home mode (heater plug lamp flashing). These symptoms followed an increase in fuel consumption plus a horrid burnt fuel smell which I originally thought was an EGR problem. On my way! stripping the throttle valve actuator the butterfly valve was very oily and coked up. I cleaned this and then removed the gear cover to find that the teeth on the gears were stripped. A replacement unit ranged fro £250 on eBay to £499 from Audi!! I purchased these replacement parts and hey presto, everything sorted. You have to 'butcher' the old quadrant gear off in order to fit the replacement but quite within the scope of a competent DIY mechanic. I then superglued the new quadrant onto the metal mount; it would have been better to remove the butterfly and then the shaft in order that I could have melted over the mounting pins instead of using glue, however I couldn't remove the butterfly screws to do this. After applying a small amount of light grease to the gears I reassembled and refitted the unit to the car. After a 20 minute road test to regenerate the DPF all problems went away and no warning lights. The horrid burnt fuel smell has disappeared and the fuel consumption figures have improved. I would thoroughly recommend this repair with these parts.. Delivery was super quick as well. Any questions please give me a shout, happy to help someone save money. :-)
