Poor fit
3 of 3 found this helpful Bought this to fit a new Shimano UN55 bottom bracket, but it just doesn't fit. It just about managed to remove the original RPM bottom bracket, but only because it wasn't screwed in that tight. I managed to screw in the new bracket, after tapping the tool in with a soft hammer, but it just wouldn't grip the cup which screws in on the left hand side. I had to use the cup from the old bottom bracket, which is not ideal.
Using vernier calipers, I measured the tool dimensions against the bottom bracket, and found that the fingers on the tool are just too fat to engage with the grooves in the bracket. It could be that the extra thickness of the coating makes it over-sized. I may try removing the coating with a wire brush to see if it makes a difference, but I wouldn't expect to have to do any re-work to make it usable. As it is, the tool just doesn't penetrate far enough into the splines to be able to apply any torque with confidence. The danger is that the tool slips out and rounds off the edges of the splines, making it even harder to remove. I'd say that the width of the teeth need to be reduced by about 0.15 to 0.20 mm to make it fit properly.

Good value, hopefully will work as well as the original parts
The only comment I can make is that the welding on the top of the rod isn't quite as neat as it is on the OEM Sachs parts. Other than that, they are a lot cheaper, time will tell if they last as long.
