Freezer power hungry

I bought this freezer for my sailboat. I have good solar support and an inverter when required. Early testing seems to reveal a power hog without sufficient insulation to preserve thermal mass. I loaded the freezer with provisions for a trip to the Bahamas. I filled the voids with bottled water to make more renewable thermal mass. 12v is very weak even with battery bank on float at more than 14v. AC side is fine if you like a 14 amp draw. This unit is sold as a freezer/refrigerator and I have set temp at 20F and am less than pleased. Internal temp raises fast when power is interrupted or switched from AC to D.C. The lack of insulation in the box is evident as a result.
