Dreadful seller who blocks you if you have a problem, offers a return just so they can have any honest and deserved negative feedback removed by eBay.Buyers think they are safe to deal with when they are actually: nasty, unprofessional, uncommunicative and have an artificially inflated Feedback rating. Just check all the people they have left feedback for who have had their negative feedback removed [there's no feedback from them any more] and work out just how BAD it should be!

Now That's What I Call 'Stop Making Sense' on CD...
Back in 1984 I took a young lady I went out with once or twice to see David Byrne's film 'Stop Making Sense' and it was an interesting experience. I loved it. She hated it. I was Right. She was wrong. Where is she now? Who cares! As far as I'm concerned the film in general, and Byrne's 'Big Suit' in particular, prove just how talented that man is. It was a truly innovative performance. Like the earlier CD release this is not Quite the soundtrack of the film but it does include many of the songs from the brilliant film [and six more than the 1993 CD] and most of them have been digitally remastered to give a crisper, cleaner sound. There is an interesting version of 'Physco Killer' [from 'Talking Heads: 77'], not the best version but very interesting nonetheless. This particular version of 'Burning Down The house' [from 'Speaking In Tongues'] is certainly worth hearing. I quite liked this version of 'Girlfriend Is Better', not bad, not bad at all. I have always been fond of 'Life During Wartime' [from 'Fear Of Music'] and this version is pretty much as good as it gets. I have to say it is really nice to see they have included the 'Tom Tom Club' track 'Genius of Love' this time around. Martina Weymouth, Mmmm... If you want to own 'Stop Making Sense' buy the DVD. However, if you don't want the DVD or simply have to have it on CD make sure you get THIS version NOT the 1993 version which only includes nine tracks because some of them are decidedly dodgy! Listen and Enjoy... Regards tbod

This Is A Brilliant Album Which Simply HAS To Be Heard!
When The Jam released "This Is The Modern World" about a year earlier no one was impressed. The success of "In The City" had gone to their heads, they thought they could turn out any old crap and the fans would just lap it up. "This Is The Modern World" was (quite literally) thrown up in about six months and they learnt an important lesson - even the Punk Rock movement had its limits. They were at a turning point; would they break up and say "it was fun while it lasted" or buckle down and produce something better. Thankfully they did the latter because "All Mod Cons" is an absolute gem of an album - positively brimming over with talent - it is almost impossible to choose a best track, I'm sure you know what I mean! Ok, if you insist I will have a go. I would have to say it is an extremely close call between "A Bomb In Wardour Street" and "Down In The Tube Station At Midnight" and if really pushed I would have to toss a mental coin and when (if?) it finally finished spinning I think you would probably find "Tube Station" was on the upper face. But if you were to ask me again next week and I couldn't guarantee 100% it would end up the same... Others worthy of mention include "Billy Hunt", a cover of the Kinks song "David Watts", "To Be Someone" and the unexpected, yet equally good, love song "English Rose" which takes you by surprise and grows on you. In short, this was a bloody good album 30 years ago and is a bloody good CD today. It has certainly stood the test of time. Buy it, listen to it and enjoy it immensely. This is one of those CDs everyone of a certain age just has to have in their CD collection so they can pull it out and listen to it and have a bloody good workout bouncing round the house to the unmistakable sounds of The Jam. You should do this at least once a year, without fail. "All Mod Cons" comes up on eBay quite regularly so you should be able to pick one up for about four or five pounds including P&P but may have to pay a little bit more if you aren't prepared to wait. Believe me whatever you pay (within reason) it will be well worth the cost and I am sure you won't be disappointed. Regards tbod

The First Thing With Ricky Gervais I Have Not Hated...
I have never been a fan of Ricky Gervais but, being open minded, decided to watch this film despite my dislike of the man and have to say I was pleasantly surprised. This film is not what I would describe as a typical comedy - in fact I don't even consider it a funny film - but it is excellent nonetheless. Set in a world identical to our own in every respect bar one, in this world honesty is not a virtue, it is a fact of life - everyone tells the truth. Always! Until one day an ordinary man (Gervais) makes an unbelievable discovery, he is capable of saying things that "aren't", that "have never been" and people believe him anyway. Because truth is a given and it has always been thus no one has any real concept of what truth is so the opposite - a lie - is totally inconceivable to them. This is a deep and insightful work which touches on the fundamental nature of society and the belief systems that underpin it. The consequences of absolute truth are far reaching: crime does not exist, neither does religion and the world of advertising is simplicity itself - "Pepsi, For When You Can't Get A Coke!"... Without giving away some of the finer points of this fine work there were a couple of points where I was moved to tears: when Gervais tells the big lie to make his mother feel better and when he chooses to tell the truth although lying would get him what he desires more than anything else in the world simply because getting it that way would devalue it to the point of worthlessness. The soundtrack, which featured some excellent songs actually added to the ambience of the film rather than being intrusive, a little a cherry on the top of a glorious sundae. While I am not sure what fans of Gervais might think I found this to be a truly excellent film well worth watching again and eBay seems to reflect my views as the DVD is going for anywhere between £9 and £14 with one lucky sole catching a bargain at only £4.50. I hope you enjoy this film as much as I have and if Gervais is capable of such fine writing I might have to look out for more of his work in future. Regards tbod
