Must-see movie from 1967,
1 of 1 found this helpful Great cast of Patrick Allen, Jane Merrow, Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. Saw this film years ago and it is finally on DVD. Without giving too much away, the story is about Britain shivering in winter but a northerly little island is basking high in the nineties and no one can explain this, not even the Met office. A visiting scientist reckons aliens are to blame.Also in the cast are some stalwarts of British film like Sarah Lawson, William Lucas, Kenneth Cope (of Randall & Hopkirk fame)and Thomas Heathcote. These people are all regulars of the Swan pub,where most of the film is set. Some great characters and fine acting. Jane Merrow is really outstanding in a real `vampie way`. She sizzles and helps to set pulses racing with her sex-appeal.
She once had an affair with Patrick Allen who is now married to Sarah Lawson and Miss Merrow is now on the island as the new secretary to best selling author Patrick Allen! Jane Merrow is indeed a very accomplished actress and typifies the British 60`s female. Patrick McGoohan (The Prisoner) hired her to appear with him many times in the Prisoner and Danger Man series so he must know something! A couple of goofs to look for....the patrons turning off the pub lights to deter the aliens only for the camera to pan to a far away look at the pub and the lights are ON! Look for Jane Merrow (stunning in her bikini) getting out of the water to meet Patrick Allen...her hair and bikini are dry.....next shot they are by large rocks chatting ...and her hair and bikini are WET! This is a very good movie though and nice to see Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee together again in the same film even though it was their last time together and also with director Terence Fisher. Although this sci-fi it has, as I said, some fine acting and does not rely on fx to keep you hooked. I recommend this film to add to your collection, you will view it many times I think. ENJOY!

1 of 1 found this helpful 1 hr 43 mins of pure genius that was Alfred Hitchcock!. This is the original black and white movie that scared us all upon it`s release in 1960. It stars Anthony Perkins and Janet Leigh in the notable shower curtain scene. For those of you put there unfamiliar with this movie and all the hype that goes with it, then all I can say say is this.....it is a must see movie and one that you will remember FOREVER! I do not want to put `spoilers` into this review as I am sure you can read all about the `whats it about` reviews elsewhere....but I would say DON`T, just watch this movie and revel in the macabre, the horror and the suspense. This is Hitchcock at his best. Though it was shot in 1960 , the dvd does contain a few extras i.e. production notes, cast and filmmakers and the original theatrical trailer. Once again ....a gem of a movie...enjoy!
