Awesome. Love it.
I am a Nikon guy. I have several newer ones and a large collection of the best 35 mm film cameras as they are going up in value. I keep this F2AS and my F4 loaded with film at all times. I like the F2AS best. It is sweet and fast handling and the build is so high quality it is a joy just to hold it in your hands. Spend the money and get all black and as close to mint as possible. It is like owning a $40,000 Swiss watch that is an astonishingly good camera.

Can only equal, can't beat this deal.......
I own a lot of Nikon cameras and a lot of these snap-on front lens cap covers. If the quality is less than OEM I can not detect the difference and these are $0.99 including shipping. The shipping time is longer than two day, but not that much longer and well within an acceptable time frame for me.

Same finder as the F2AS only dedicated to non AI lenses.
1 of 1 found this helpful This camera was only made for 10 months, so if you find one in black, in mint condition as I did it is sure to go up in value if you maintain it and keep it mint. I think Nikon put it out there to test the new Silicon Photo diodes (SPD) as opposed to the old CDS meter before coming out with the AI lenses and the F2AS AI mount with the same SPD meter ten months later.
Merits of the DP-3 include the display of shutter speed and aperture settings with in the finder and the built-in finder illuminator. Silicon Photo diodes (SPD) are used in the metering circuitry for rapid response to changing light levels, and they are especially advantageous for accurate and quick readings under low-light conditions to EV-2. Additional sophistication employed in the metering system include a monolithic IC for exposure detection and indication, and a metallic thin-film resistor (the Functional Resistance Element of FRE); both of these devices help to ensure the most dependable operation under demanding picture-talking situations. You get a high tech finder for non AI lenses in a camera that is considered the highest quality, best engineered, completely mechanical camera ever made that will only go up in value as long as you take good care of it.
