Both my young kids have these (8 & 12) They get all the usual apps etc along with the fingerprint unlock (which they love). Certainly for kids, these are great phones, normally £100 ish on eBay and that's pretty good when you compare it to the original cost. They have been regularly dropped and as long as they are in a case or have a silicone cover, seem to take quite a beating. I also don't think kids would benefit from the 6 & 7 phones,they don't really do much more for vastly more expensive prices.

Great for the kids
my 2 year old and 5 year old both have the 5th gen ipod, i wanted one with a decent size screen that was easy to use and didn't cost a furtune, they keep my kids quiet when all around then is busy

Very good
Had to record my heart rate daily and this recommended by my doctor. Works very well, seems accurate and in line with the results I get at the doctors. They tended to be consistently higher at the doctors, so it did identify that I was getting stressed by having checks done there, which is common.
