It All Boils Down To Human values
1 of 1 found this helpful I loved this film since I first saw it in the '80s. It is not a block buster but in my book it is. I have been looking for a copy for ages till I found it on ebay for a great price. I still love it as much if not more. it is about deciding between making loads of money and, in the process, destroying a beautiful Scottish village or opting to preserve the kind of life that has become very scarce in modern times. The characters are amazing. The village life is very entertaining. Now that I live in a village, I can identify many people who are the spitting image of the characters in the film. For example in the film, the lawyer is also the hotel owner and the bar tender. In my village the café owner is the taxi driver and the funeral director!
Never a dull moment, full of mirth, down to earth wisdom, will make you question your values, and the music by Dire Straits (Going home) is haunting...This film is not to be missed
