Great if you have tiny espresso cups!
Yes, on a Rancilio Silvia, the portafilter spout does unscrew. In my case I needed a vice to make it work, but I had faith. Once off, putting in the single spout is easy. Pressing down the grinds gave me a surprise as the portafilter now has only one leg, and I was used to pushing down on two (coffee everywhere). But once you are used to it it is fine, and stops my pressing too hard.
Beyond that it makes getting the espresso in to my tiny cups much easier. No more dribbles down the side.

Worth doing if you value the look of the car
The car looked lopsided and broken with the old cracked one. Changing it for the right one made a huge difference to the look of the car.
