Beware of no warranty

Just purchased an early 2015 13" retina MacBook Pro that is fine. Came as totally new. The company posted at top of item that a one-year warranty is available through Apple but when I tried to register it over 10 times, it failed to go through. Contacted Apple and they said that because this was a third party purchase (I was the third party buying from this company) that warranty clock started running out LAST June when this company, I'm assuming, purchased the item. So Apple says the warranty period ran out THIS June. The company says that is not true, that it started WHEN I bought the laptop (8/26/16) but when I try and confirm that date with the serial number of the laptop, it does not work. Service and replies have been fine, just want people to be aware that if you buy an Apple product from last year, make sure your warranty will work. According to Apple, it may not depending on when the product was received by this company.
