Good movie
I'm a math teacher and bought this to show my classes. It's rated PG-13 but does have some rather foul language, drinking, smoking, and very suggestive scenes without actually showing sex. Also some violence and potentially emotionally disturbing scenes. That said, as long as no parents get too upset with me, I have only good impressions of this film. The kids love it (they usually hate movies I find to have any educational value). It earned many awards for good reasons: excellent acting and cinematography, a very convincing story line (based on a true story), etc. I don't want to spoil it for you by telling the plot twists, but if you're interested in this movie, it's definitely a keeper. I didn't even mind watching it 4 times in a day... although the first watching is the best because you don't know what's going to happen!

Another Great Osprey Book
My husband is a history buff and a reenactor and I bought this for his. I also bought "Russian Army of the Seven Years War (1)" and also part (2). Although the Cossacks book is actually a little later period than he normally likes, he dug right in and missed a night's sleep when it arrived. These Osprey series books are very informative but laid out in an easy-to-read (and easy to skip around and find stuff) format that even I occasionally read (and I HATE history stuff). Lots of pictures helps. There's a section in the center with full-page full-color illustrations that really show how things were done (and break-out shots of uniform and equipment, etc) in the period. I'm sure my hubby will be out on his horse this afternoon trying some of the stuff they show! They do a good job of documenting sources so you can do primary research as well and there's a chronology in the front that is great. If you're into this kind of stuff, these Osprey Warrior books are great.

OK....
If, like me, you had recently heard someone playing a glass harmonica in person and were entranced by the hauntingly beautiful music... well, this is NOT going to be a very satisfying CD. While it has some very nice typical classical music, the glass harmonica is not only generally buried by other instruments but is also lacking in the qualities that attracted me to it... I don't know if I heard a non-typical instrument or what, but the one on the recording sounds flat and dull... almost synthesized or something... in comparison to the full crystaline soaring sounds I was expecting. No reverberation or overlapping chords, etc... Liek the difference between a harpisichord and a piano. Very disappointing if you are expecting one and get the other. But, again, fine classical music if that's all you're looking for.
