Worth the time
With a bit of patience, these couplings work well a d look much better than the hook a d bar.

Its easy
This simple bat detector was very easy to build. Used a 1mm iron bit for the soldering and the device worked first time. The instructions were just right.
First time we used it at the medium setting we heard our first bat. Adjusting the sensitivity has helped to get better reception. Its a lot of fun for the money.
Used velcro for the battery support, otherwise I might find a better case over time, but the cardboard case is ok for the moment.
