Reality to?
I enjoyed this film but would have appreciated more emphasis on battle scenes and the technical aspects of the tanks and less on the fantasy elements.

Limited value.
The main value of this book is that it does provide a list of war movies. It then devotes a lot of space to trivia associated with the individual movies and gives very detailed lists of the cast and crew involved in the making of the film. There is not much information, critical or otherwise, on the movies themselves and what is given is occasionally historically or factually inaccurate.

Excellent background to a classic
I have always loved both the book and the film, The Searchers, so I found this book extremely interesting.
The lead up sections giving the history of Cynthia Anne Parker and her son , Quannah Parker, were more interesting to me than the sections on the author, Alan Le May, and the making of the film. I am not really into ego laden celebrity or artistic personalities and it often amazes me that such dysfunctional and/or sycophantic people could produce such good work.
If anyone has the temerity to do a remake I hope they stick more closely to the original novel.
I would recommend this book very highly.
